LEWISBURG, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior goalkeeper Ashley Wesmiller earned her first shutout of the season, stopping 18 shots as Lafayette downed Bucknell, 2-0, in the Leopards' Patriot League opener on Sunday afternoon.
Wesmiller made eight saves in the first half and 10 in the second against the Bison (5-4, 0-2). She is Lafayette's career leader in shutouts with 13.
Emily Myers started the Leopards' (5-3, 1-0) scoring, taking a pass from Briana Rinchiuso and putting in the net for a 1-0 lead at 23:07. The tally was Myers' seventh of the season.
Meghan Ramsey tallied her first goal of the season at 68:02, with Bryn Carlson picking up the assist.
Lafayette returns to action on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. when Siena visits Metzgar Field for a non-conference game.
