BETHLEHEM, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's soccer team evened its season record at 2-2 with a 2-0 win over Delaware in the final round of the Lehigh Soccer Classic on Sunday.
Both Lafayette goals came in the second half and both were assisted by Steve Orloff. Paulo Coelho scored the game-winner 8:13 into the second half (53:13) for his first goal of the season. Coelho led the defensive-minded Lafayette squad in scoring in the 2001 season with seven goals.
Marko Lukin added an insurance goal at 70:47 on Orloff's second assist of the game. Orloff has a goal and two assists in the Leopards' first four games.
Jay Freedman and the Lafayette defense posted their second shutout of the season. Freedman made five saves in goal with three in the first half and two in the second half. Delaware outshot the Leopards 9-7 and the Blue Hens' record goes to 2-1 on the season.
Lafayette (2-2) returns to action on Friday when it hosts the Lafayette Soccer Classic. The Leopards will match up with Columbia at 7 p.m. Northwestern, coached by former Lafayette head coach Tim Lenahan, will open the tournament against La Salle at 5 p.m. Sunday action will begin at noon.
