Lafayette vs. Holy Cross

Jan. 18, 2003

Recap?|? Box Score

Holy Cross Head Coach Ralph Willard: "I don't care how big you are inside. If you don't make shots from the perimeter you are going to have a long night."

"They (Lafayette) play a match-up zone and they do a great job at it, but one thing that they do is front the post because they bump out to the wing. We told our guys that every time they bump you are going to have inside position if you understand who is going to shoot the ball and when they are going to shoot it. It is much easier to rebound against a zone than it is against man."

Lafayette Head Coach Fran O'Hanlon: "I thought we competed very well. They made plays down the stretch. They are a championship squad. This is as good as any team that has been in the Patriot League."

"We are solid. We want to be a better team. They come off the bench with Fingelton and Lufkin and they are all-league caliber players. Our bench has done a good job."

"We played them really well today, but we didn't win the game. We just have to keep getting better."

Justin DeBerry, Guard: "I think that the game was lost on more than just shooting. We were just trading baskets for a while in the second half, and we needed to get more stops."

Rob Dill, Center: "They have really big guys, but the only way to play with them is to go at them."

Winston Davis, Forward: "They increased the pressure in the second half. They made a lot of switches and stayed in front of Justin and I when we cut across the lane."
