Moss and McCourt Named to All-Patriot League Football Squads

Nov. 25, 2003

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior offensive tackle Kevin Moss (New York, N.Y./Simsbury) and junior tailback Joe McCourt (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) have been named to the All-Patriot offensive squads, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Moss was selected to the All-Patriot League First Team offense while McCourt earned an All-Patriot League Second Team offensive bid.

For Moss, his All-Patriot League selection is the third in his final three seasons on College Hill, as he was named to the first team in 2002 and to the second team in 2001. The Anthropology & Sociology major started in eight of the team's 11 games in his senior season, but was forced to miss the final three contests of his career due to illness. Moss' pass protection helped senior quarterback Marko Glavic and the Lafayette offense finish 16th in the nation in passing offense.

Moss' run blocking was also crucial to the Leopards' other 2003 All-Patriot League selection, McCourt. The junior tailback led the team in rushing with 1,157 yards in 2003 for an average of 105 per game. He currently has 3,281 career rushing yards and ranks third all-time at Lafayette. McCourt's high-water rushing mark came against Holy Cross on Nov. 15 when he took a hand off 34 times for 209 yards and scored four touchdowns.

An Anthropology & Sociology major, McCourt proved a multiple threat out of the backfield, also leading the team in receptions in 2003. He reeled in 52 caches for 444 yards and two touchdowns and also threw his first career touchdown pass. When combining rushing and receiving scores, McCourt scored 17 times in 2003 and is tied with Erik Marsh for career touchdowns at Lafayette with 38. In 2003, McCourt finished ninth in the nation in scoring and 26th in rushing yardage per game.

Lafayette finished the season with a 5-6 record that included three losses to nationally-ranked opponents.
