Box Score

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Steven Miles had 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists Saturday to lead American University to a 79-62 victory over Lafayette, keeping the Eagles unbeaten at home in Patriot League play.

Miles, who leads the league in scoring, shot 9-for-18 from the field, including 2-for-9 from 3-point range, and was perfect on five free throws in his final regular-season game at Bender Arena.

If Holy Cross beats Lehigh on Sunday, American (14-13, 9-5) will be the No. 2-seeded team in the Patriot League Tournament, scheduled for March 8-14 at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. The championship game will be played at the home of the highest-seeded team remaining.

Andrew Pleick, who made 4 of 9 3-pointers, led Lafayette with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Drew Dawson scored 11 and Winston Davis 10 for the Leopards (12-15, 6-8), who likely will be seeded sixth in the conference tournament.

Glenn Stokes sparked American with 13 points, four assists and three steals. Jernavis Draughn added 10 points for the Eagles, who scored 29 points off Lafayette turnovers. AU also outscored Lafayette 20-3 on fast-break points.

The Eagles took control with a 12-0 run midway through the first half, capped by Miles' follow for a 22-11 lead. The Leopards closed the half with six 3-pointers but trailed 45-36 at halftime.

Stokes' 3-pointer gave American a 67-47 lead with 7:23 left.
