EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette junior guard Winston Davis has been named to the 2003 All-Patriot League Tournament Team it was announced on Friday following the Patriot League Tournament Finals.
Davis scored a career-high 23 points in the Leopards' 89-76 win over No. 3 Colgate in the quarterfinal round. He followed with 13 points in Lafayette's 74-55 semifinal loss to No. 2 seed American.
For the season, Davis was second on the team in scoring at 13.8 points per game. He was one of just three players to start all 29 games for the Leopards.
Davis is the only player selected to the All-Tournament team that did not play in the championship game. Holy Cross senior center Patrick Whearty, who was named the 2002-03 Patriot League Player of the Year, was selected as the 2003 Patriot League Tournament MVP. His teammate, freshman guard Kevin Hamilton, also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. American's hot-shooting senior guards, Glenn Stokes and Steven Miles, also earned All-Tournament Team nods.
Regular-season champion Holy Cross won the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament with a 72-64 win over American.
