EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior forward Jamie Mullarkey (Cramlington, England/Cramlington) scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season and assisted two others as Lafayette defeated Monmouth, 4-1, on Saturday at Metzgar Fields.
Monmouth led 1-0 on a goal by Travis Ross at the 11:21 mark, but the Leopards evened the score at 31:13 on Victor Krasij's (Avon, Conn/Avon) first goal of 2003. Mullarkey assisted Krasij's goal.
Lafayette (5-2-1 overall) took the lead for good at the 48:31 mark on a goal by Nathan Jolly (Northumberland, England/Coquet), his first of the season. Ralph Rapuano (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) tallied his first goal of the season at 65:19 off a Mullarkey assist, while Mullarkey collected his seventh goal at 70:30 to close out the scoring.
Lafayette held an 11-6 edge in shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Tortora (Willington, Conn./E.O. Smith) made two saves to pick up his second win of the season.
Lafayette returns to action next Saturday, hosting Colgate at 3 p.m. at Metzgar Fields in the Patriot League opener.
