JERSEY CITY, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's soccer team picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday, shutting out Saint Peter's, 3-0, in a non-conference match.
The Leopards fired at the goal early and often, taking 26 shots in the contest. Junior midfielder Meghan Sweeney (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was the first to find the back of the net, scoring her fourth goal of the season just 2:19 into the match. Amy Levinson (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) assisted Sweeney's goal.
Senior midfielder Kati Kochersperger (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) scored her first goal of 2003 at the 34:24 mark off an assist from Katie Morton (Reigelsville, Pa./Penn Charter) to give the Leopards a 2-0 halftime lead.
Senior midfielder Meghan Ramsey (Lakeville, Minn./Great Valley) scored her second goal of the season at 59:27 to put the match away. Kerrie Kiley (Greenlawn, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Sweeney assisted on Ramsey's goal.
Junior goalkeeper Amy Kalista (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) made six saves to earn her first career shut-out victory.
Lafayette (2-6-3 overall, 0-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday, hosting Bucknell in a Patriot League contest at Metzgar Fields. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
