Lafayette-American Basketball Game To Be Televised Live Regionally

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette Sports Network, recently recognized by Broadcasting & Cable magazine as one of the top college sports television networks in the country, is televising the Lafayette at American men's basketball game live from Bender Arena on Friday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. ET on RCN-4 and WBPH-60 in Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey.

Emmy-nominated television sports broadcaster Gary Laubach is handling the Leopards' play-by-play duties for the seventh straight season. John Leone, Lafayette's Director of Alumni Affairs, is serving as the Lafayette Sports Network primary color analyst for the sixth straight season.

Including the Lafayette at American contest, the 2003-04 Lafayette men's and women's basketball seasons will see a Patriot League-best 25 contests hit the television airwaves via the Lafayette Sports Network. The Lafayette Sports Network is also in its fourth season utilizing best-selling author John Feintsein as a guest analyst, the longest such relationship in the Patriot League.

In addition to unparalleled television exposure, every Lafayette basketball game is being broadcast on the radio via WEST-AM 1400 for the 68th consecutive season, and the live audio and video feed of all broadcasted events IS available simultaneously on Lafayette's award-winning Web site. All Lafayette webcasts are distributed by RealNetworks, Inc., the global leader in Internet media delivery.


Nationally recognized as a leader in collegiate sports broadcasting on regional television and radio, Lafayette has seen its Web site become one of the most popular mediums for Leopard fans. The sports portal of www.lafayette.edu received more than 3.1 million page views in the 2002-03 athletic seasons as more than 100 audio or video webcasts were made available.

About the Lafayette Sports Network
The Lafayette Sports Network, the most expansive television package in the Patriot League seven years running, can be seen by more than 9.1 million viewers in Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey. Thirty-five events are being televised during the 2003-04 athletic seasons on RCN-TV 4 and WBPH-TV 60, and 16 of those telecasts are airing on Empire Sports Network to more than 17.5 million viewers in Upstate and Western New York as well as more than 40 million potential viewers nationally on DIRECTV (channel 626) and at least 19.5 million possible viewers nationally on DISH Network (channel 432).
