Lafayette Men's Basketball Falls to Penn, 88-68

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Penn used a 16-4 run early in the second half to pull away in an 88-68 win over Lafayette (9-4) on Wednesday at the Palestra.

After Lafayette scored nine straight to cut the lead to five, 52-47, the Quakers (6-4) put together the decisive run. Jeff Schiffner hit a pair of three-pointers and Adam Chubb added five points in the spurt.

Leading by a pair midway through the first stanza, Penn scored eight straight to build a 10-point lead that it stretched to 12, 50-38, at halftime.

The Quakers hit 12-of-24 three pointers and held a 40-27 edge on the boards for the contest.

Winston Davis led three Leopards in double figures with 17 points. Rob Dill collected 12 points and Justin DeBerry 11 points and seven assists.

Chubb led the Quakers with 17 points. He also snagged a team-high eight rebounds. Schiffner added 15 on the strength of 4-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc.

Lafayette opens Patriot League play on Saturday, hosting Colgate in the second half of a doubleheader at Kirby Sports Center. The women's game tips off the doubleheader at 1 p.m.
