Lafayette College mourns the passing of Tony Giglio '74 who died at his home on Oct. 22. He was 52 years old.
Giglio became the first Lafayette player to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season when he ran for 1,204 yards in 1972. His 2,519 career rushing yards stood as a school record for 11 years following his graduation.
Giglio earned All-America honors from the Associated Press in 1972 and 1973. He was also named the team's most valuable player following those two seasons. Giglio was a member of Lafayette's Maroon Club Hall of Fame Class of 1981-82. At the time, he was the youngest member of the College's Hall of Fame.
Giglio, who graduated from Lafayette with a degree in Economics, worked at IBM for 28 years.
Giglio is survived by his wife, Kelly, two children, Tony and Annie, his mother, two sisters and a brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all contributions be made payable to the Anthony C. and Anne R. Giglio College Fund to the attention of Joseph C. Calabro, CPA, 868 Lancaster Ave., Devon, Pa., 19333.
