PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Despite two goals by senior Katie Curtin, the Lafayette women's lacrosse team fell to non-conference opponent Temple 23-4 on Wednesday.
Temple came out strong, scoring the first nine goals of the first half before Lafayette could get on the board on an unassisted Katie Layng shot at 15:10.
Curtin added her first tally of the day off a Layng assist at 13:05, but the Owls closed out the half as strongly as they started, scoring five more times before the halftime break.
Temple kicked off the second stanza with a goal just 18 seconds in. Curtin tallied her second goal off a Lauren Ricca assist at 28:22, but the Owls answered with three more goals.
Kaleigh Mountain recorded the Leopards fourth and final goal of the day at 17:25. Temple's Tiffany Pulaski closed out the game with four straight goals for the Owls, bringing her total to 10 for the day.
Lafayette goalkeeper Jaclyn Kushner recorded 14 saves for the Leopards before Stephanie Marcon came in on relief to make three stops in the net. Temple goaltenders Megan Mclouth and Lauren Costello combined to make six saves for the Owls.
Lafayette (3-10) will be back in action on Friday, April 16 as they host non-conference opponent Saint Joseph's at 7:30 p.m. on Rappolt Field.
