Lafayette Hosts Colgate in Patriot League Men's Soccer Action

Oct. 12, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's soccer team (6-1-4, 1-0-1) will host Patriot League opponent Colgate on Sunday at 4 p.m. With a win or a tie against the Raiders, the Leopards would extend their unbeaten streak to 10 straight games and record their second league victory of the fall.

Sunday's game is the second of three televised games this fall for the Leopards. The match will air live on RCN-4 and WBPH-60 and will be replayed on RCN on Oct. 16 at noon. CSTV's national premiere of the game will air on Oct. 16 at 10 p.m. Gary Laubach will cover the play-by-play duties, while Dan Mowdy will provide color analysis and John Leone will be the field reporter.

Lafayette is coming off a 1-1 tie at Penn State on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions scored midway through the second half and the Leopards seemed to be heading for their first loss since Sept. 2, but a goal by freshman B.J. Glenn in the 89th minute sent the game into overtime. Neither team found the back of the net in overtime and the Leopards left University Park with the tie.

The tie did end the Leopards' shutout streak at six games. Freshman Andrew Pianko made his second start of the fall in goal for Lafayette and finished with three saves against the Nittany Lions. Even with the one goal scored against the Leopards on Wednesday, the Lafayette defense has still limited opponents to just five goals all season and to just 109 shots through 11 games.

Colgate and Lafayette come into the weekend with identical league records of 1-0-1. The Raiders' overall record of 5-3-2, however, places them second in the league standings behind the Leopards, whose 6-1-4 overall record earns them the number one spot.

A win against Colgate on Sunday afternoon would mark the 70th in head coach Dennis Bohn's career. He enters the game with a 69-32-20 (.653) overall record, all while at the helm of the Lafayette men's soccer program.

Following Sunday's game, the Leopards, who are currently ranked second in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic region, will hit the road for two Patriot League matches. They will first face Army on Saturday, Oct. 20, followed by a trip to Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 27.
