EASTON, Pa. - Glenn Named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Freshman garners third Patriot League honor of the season
EASTON, Pa.-- Freshman B.J. Glenn was tabbed as the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring Lafayette's lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Holy Cross on Saturday. The tie secured Lafayette's berth in the Patriot League Tournament for the sixth season in a row.
Glenn scored the game-tying goal with just over seven minutes left to play in regulation. He took a team-high three shots against the Crusaders with his score coming on his final shot of the afternoon.
The Philadelphia, Pa. native now has five goals this fall, good for second on the team. He has scored three goals in the three previous three games and is second on the team in shots (23) and points (11). Named one of College Soccer News' `Top 100 Freshmen to Keep an Eye on in 2007' prior to the start of the season, Glenn earned two Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors earlier this fall.
With Saturday's tie against Holy Cross, the Leopards finished the regular season with a 9-3-6 overall mark, including a 3-1-3 record in Patriot League play. They earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will face the Crusaders for the second time in a week as Holy Cross earned the No. 1 seed and will serve as tournament host. It will be the sixth time the Leopards have faced the Crusaders in the tournament in the previous 10 seasons. Kickoff for Friday's semifinal match is set for 3 p.m.
Lafayette, currently ranked fourth in the NSCAA's Mid-Atlantic Region, has now advanced to the Patriot League Tournament in all but one of head coach Dennis Bohn's seven seasons at Lafayette. The six consecutive years of earning a spot in the postseason tournament is the longest current streak of any Patriot League team. In addition, Lafayette's senior class is the one in the Patriot League to advance to the playoffs all four years.
