Q & A With Wide Receiver Shaun Adair

Aug. 18, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette Athletic Communications staff caught up with wide receiver Shaun Adair to talk about preseason and the upcoming 2007 season, now just two weeks away.

How is preseason going and how does this year's camp compare to previous camps you've been in?

"Camp is definitely a lot harder with the conditioning, you push yourself a lot harder. There's just more of that sense that we need to win. We have all this stuff telling us we need to win, like our shirts say "No Co" (No Co-Championships) and all that stuff. We're just trying to push ourselves because if you push yourself now then it's going to pay off later."

Being one of the more experienced wideouts on the team, have you taken a leadership role with the freshmen this year?

"A little bit. All the seniors and upperclassmen are trying to take a leadership role in helping the younger guys come along. We have three younger receivers and they're trying to learn the offense and everything so it helps out when you know the offense. I'm just trying to show them by example."

How are the freshmen looking?

"They're doing very well. All the freshmen are showing really nice talent. They've all got really nice hands; they're just trying to pick up on the routes and learn all the plays really well and where to line up. Of course it's really hard because there are a lot of plays coming all at once, but they're doing a really good job."

Do you think they will see any playing time this year?

"I really hope so. It would give all of us upperclassmen a chance to help out and it's good for the program when you get young guys in there who are ready to play."

Does the question of starting quarterback affect you as a receiver?

"It's not really that big of a deal, whoever is out there. We worked with all three of the quarterbacks that really have a chance of starting. All three of the guys are doing a really great job and whomever coach decides, that's who we're going with. And it really doesn't matter how many reps you get with the guy because whoever is in there is going to take us to win. And that's all we need is to win the game."

Which game are you most excited about this season?

"I always look forward to Colgate because my grandfather went there, so it's a big game for my family. But Lehigh is definitely a big game too."
