Tours of Bourger Varsity House Available To the Public

Sept. 13, 2007

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette College is giving the public a chance to see the inside of the 24,000 square-foot Bourger Varsity Football House, home to Lafayette Football.

Tours will be available from 11:30 - 2:00 p.m. on the next two home gamedays, Sept. 22 and Oct. 6, when the Leopards face Princeton and Columbia, respectively. Hors d'oeuvres will also be served.

The first floor of the building features a spacious lobby with displays honoring "Legends of Lafayette", the team's locker room, strength and conditioning areas, and sports medicine facilities, including a hydrotherapy room. The upper level houses coaches' offices and several meeting rooms, one of which is large enough to accommodate the entire team. That area, which can be divided into four separate units, features audio-visual capabilities that match those in the "smart classrooms" in the College's academic buildings.

The varsity house at the west end of Fisher Stadium was made possible by a generous donation by John T. (Jack) Bourger '71 and Selena Vanderwerf. It opened on June 1 at a special dedication

Anyone interested in taking a tour of the Bourger Varsity Football House building should contact Coordinator of Athletic Development, Lindsey Streeter, at (610) 330-5024 or streetel@lafayette.edu.
