Jan. 24, 2008

EASTON, Pa. - Senior Ashley Harbin (Clarksville, Tenn./Carthage Central (N.Y.)) has been named the ECAC Field Athlete of the Week, picking up her second honor in as many days. She was also selected as the Patriot League's Female Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

An Economics & Business major, she claimed home her second title in as many weeks with a throw of 57' 6½" at the Penn State Open last weekend. She won the event by more than 18 inches.

Harbin also took first place two weeks ago at the Crowell Open in West Point, N.Y. She shattered the school record with her throw of 64' 8", breaking the previous record she set last year by more than a foot.

Harbin will return to Penn State this weekend to compete in the Penn State Invitational. She will be joined by junior thrower Osasumwen Izevbigie and freshman sprinter Janica Austin. The rest of the team will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. to participate in the Bucknell Invitational & Multi Challenge.
