EASTON, Pa. - Freshman wide receiver Greg Stripe (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday. He received his first weekly honor after recording an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Lafayette's 48-13 victory at Fordham.

The touchdown return was the first for a Lafayette player since 2006 and helped Lafayette bounce back after Fordham cut the Leopards' lead to 34-13 in the third quarter. Stripe also had five carries for 43 yards and finished with 136 all-purpose yards.

Prior to his arrival at Lafayette, Stripe was Mahwah's team captain and ran for 1,313 yards on 142 carries for 17 touchdowns his senior year. He was a three-time all-league selection at running back.

The Economics and Business major balances four classes including Intro to Psychology and Intro to U.S. Politics.

With Stripe's nod, the Leopards have picked up six weekly honors since the start of the season. Lafayette's 6-1 start is the best since 1981, matching a 6-1 mark by head coach Frank Tavani's predecessor Bill Russo. Prior to that it was 1944.

Lafayette (6-1, 2-0) will continue Patriot League action on Saturday at Colgate (6-2, 2-0) at 1 p.m.
