With the holidays right around the corner, some members of the Lafayette men's basketball team took a timeout from practice and studying for finals to re-live childhood memories, reveal what's at the top of their gift wish lists and weigh in on their favorite holiday movies. The Leopards return to the court on Sunday when they travel to Penn State for their first nationally televised game on ESPNU at 4 p.m.
Q: Do you have any holiday traditions with your family?
Andy Moore: My older brother and I have to lineup in our parents' room and wait until 6 a.m. before we can rush in and see what Santa got us...at least that's what we did as young ones. (Sure Andy, you can pretend like you don't still do that.)
Rob Delaney: My dad always puts the last ornament on the tree.
Ben Wheeler: My family watches home videos and plays board games while listening to the *NSYNC Home for Christmas CD.
J.D. Pelham: Go to the movies on Christmas night
Q: What's the best present you ever received?
Jim Mower: My first Fisher Price basketball hoop because that's when I started playing basketball.
Andy Moore: A keyboard when I was about 7 years old.
Rob Delaney: Nintendo 64
J.D. Pelham: My Star Wars LEGO set
Ben Wheeler: Blue Power Rangers uniform
Q: What's the worst present you ever received?
Rob Delaney: A book
J.D. Pelham: An orange V-neck sweater
Andy Moore: Any time it snows
Andrew Brown: I have actually liked all my gifts...it's the thought that counts.
Ben Wheeler: A sweater vest
Ryan Willen: I was about 10 and we decided to get a real Christmas tree for our living room. When we sat down to start opening presents, we saw little things walking around everywhere by our tree. It turned out a praying mantis had laid eggs in our tree and they had hatched. It was hysterical, however, watching my mother attack them with a vacuum.
Q: What's your favorite holiday movie?
Andrew Brown: Christmas Vacation. The Family Man is actually another one that comes to mind.
Ryan Willen: A Christmas Story
Jim Mower: A Christmas Story
J.D. Pelham: A Christmas Story
Jared Mintz: Jingle All the Way
Andy Moore: Elf, but the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie is always good and Home Alone isn't bad.
Rob Delaney: Home Alone
Ben Wheeler: It's a Wonderful Life
Q: What's at the top of your gift wish list?
Andrew Brown: A new PlayStation 3 controller and The Dark Knight in Blu-ray.
Andy Moore: Hot Wheels
J.D. Pelham: Sock'em Boppers
Ben Wheeler: A new high-definition TV
Ryan Willen: A Patriot League Championship
Rob Delaney: I'm really counting on getting a Ferrari
