EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The renovated varsity house at Lafayette's Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex will be dedicated on Saturday, April 5, 2008. The dedication ceremony will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by an open house and reception.
Named in honor of Harold N. Kamine '78 and Kathleen Coogan Kamine '78, the Kamine Varsity House was created through the $2.5 million renovation and complete refurbishing of the McCracken Varsity House, which was constructed in 1969-70 and expanded in 1976-77. The new facility includes a plaque honoring G. Herbert and Helen K. McCracken, for whom the facility was named in 1973.
The Kamine Varsity House features state-of-the-art team rooms for baseball, field hockey, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's cross country/track & field, women's cross country/track & field and softball. Each team room is appointed with furniture and flat-panel video monitors as well as internet access. The facility renovation also includes locker facilities for visiting teams, officials and Lafayette's coaching staff.
At the dedication ceremony the Kamines will also be recognized for their generous support of Lafayette's baseball stadium, which will be renamed Kamine Stadium.
All members of the Lafayette community are invited. To assist the College Relations Office in planning for this special event, please contact Leah Heinrich via email heinricl@lafayette.edu or phone (610-330-5037) if you plan to attend.
