Lafayette Softball Loses 3-0 at St. Joseph's

EAST NORRINGTON, Pa. - Lafayette softball was held to three hits in a 3-0 loss at St. Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Christine Hilcken allowed five hits with one earned run in her third start for the Leopards. She struck out three Hawk batters.

Laura Cardone scored first for the Hawks in the fourth inning, stealing home to take a 1-0 lead.

Junior Amanda Parker singled through left field and sophomoreJessika Smith made the run from second to home in the fifth inning. Smith was called out on the play after centerfielder Cardone threw it in to St. Joe's catcher Brooke Darreff.

St. Joe's registered a single run in the fifth and sixth innings to close the game for the final 3-0 win. Dani Gonzales started the game for the Hawks and struck out a single batter in three innings pitched. Lauren Pembleton gets the win and Alyssa Neislon earns the save for St. Joseph's.

Lafayette softball continues Patriot League play at home this weekend, hosting Lehigh for a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday. The first doubleheader game on Saturday will begin at noon.
