PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Ashley Harbin threw a personal-best 201' 3" at the Penn Relays on Thursday to win the championship division of the hammer throw and set a new school record in the process. The Clarksville, Tenn. native bested the old record which she set in 2007, by more than three feet.
Harbin has won back-to-back titles in the championship division at the Penn Relays in addition to winning the college division her sophomore year. She earned the victory on her second throw of the morning, edging out Georgia Tech's Kimery Hern by 3' 4". Her new personal record improves her NCAA-qualifying mark.
Senior Kristen Kalinowski earned a sixth-place finish in the eastern division of the women's high jump competition with a leap of 5' 5¾".
Junior Vicky Melroy also came in sixth place in the college division of the women's hammer event. She set a new personal record and improved her ECAC-qualifying mark with a throw of 165' 6". Senior Andrea Cerbie finished ninth in the competition with a throw of 159' 1".
In the women's shot put, senior Pamela Glennon threw a distance of 40' 9½" to tie for 19th place.
