EASTON, Pa. - Eight members of Lafayette's women's track & field team and two representatives from the men's team will travel to Princeton University for the 132nd IC4A Men's and 25th ECAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. The events will be held at the Tigers' William Weaver Track & Field Stadium.

Three Leopards will compete in the hammer throw on Saturday morning. Senior Ashley Harbin has won back-to-back Patriot League Championships in the hammer and holds the school record with a distance of 201' 3", which she threw at the Penn Relays to win the championship division on April 24. She has also qualified to compete at NCAA Regionals later this month.

Senior Andrea Cerbie and junior Vicky Melroy will join Harbin in the hammer throw. Cerbie threw a personal-best distance of 172' 11" this year at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic (4/12). She also took second-place at the Patriot League Championships. Melroy also set a personal record this season, throwing 165' 6" at the Penn Relays and finishing fifth at the league championships.

Freshman Janica Austin will run the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles this weekend, with the 100-meter hurdle trials beginning on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. Austin was named the Rookie of the Meet at the Patriot League Championships after claiming the 100-meter hurdles title. She clocked a time of 13.90 in the preliminaries, just .01 behind her personal-best, to hit the NCAA Regionals qualifying standard for the second time this season. Austin ran a personal-best time of 1:00.89 in the 400-meter hurdles at the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 9.

Junior Jessica Buzzell earned All-Patriot League First-Team honors with a win in the long jump at league championships. Her jump of 18' 7¾" beat the competition by 1¾" inches. She competed at the indoor ECAC Championships and finished 15th with a jump of 17' 5½".

Freshman Asia Hollis was crowned the Patriot League champion in the 400-meters and will compete in the same event this weekend. She broke the school record in the first meet of the outdoor season (3/22) with a time of 56.56 seconds.

Senior Kristen Kalinowski will compete in the high jump after winning the league championship in both the high jump and the heptathlon. Her winning jump of 5'5" has earned her a trip to the NCAA Regionals later this month. Kalinowski was also the league champion at the 2008 Patriot League Indoor Championships where she jumped a personal-best 5' 7 1/4".

Junior Osasumwen Izevbigie will round out the women's team by competing in the shot put on Sunday morning. This will be the last meet of the accomplished thrower's career, as she will graduate in December 2008 and will be traveling abroad during NCAA Regionals. The Springdale, Md. native holds the school record in the shot put for both the indoor and outdoor seasons and threw a season-best 45' 10½" to defend her championship crown at the league championships this past weekend.

On the men's side, senior Alex Wechsler will run the 1,500-meters for the Leopards. Wechsler placed seventh at the Patriot League Championships with a personal-best time of 3:49.83. He has the third-fastest time in school history.

Sophomore Kyle Clayton will run the 100-meter dash. Clayton clocked a time of 10.84 seconds in the preliminaries at the league championships and ultimately finished fourth in the race.

The ECAC and IC4A Championships will conclude with an awards ceremony that will begin after the final relay is run at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
