Riverdale, N.Y. - Women's Soccer Falls to Manhattan Drop 2-0 on the road

Riverdale, N.Y.--The Lafayette women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Manhattan in Riverdale, N.Y. on Friday night. Leopard goalie Brittany Futterknecht made seven stops on the night while facing 26 shots from the Jaspers. Seven different Lafayette players took shots in the game but could not find the back of the net.

The Lafayette defense held the Jaspers without a goal for the entire first half. Manhattan got on the scoreboard with its first goal at 59:41 in the second period when Christine Reina knocked a shot into the back left corner of the net off an assist from Michelle Miyaki. Just 15 minutes later, Manhattan scored again, as Brittany Duhamel lofted as hot over the Futterknecht from inside the box for the 2-0 Jasper lead.

Lafayette (0-4-2) held Manhattan (3-1) without another goal in the game but the offense could not come through with a clutch shot as the Leopards dropped the final 2-0 decision. Lauren Hinkel led the team with two shots in the game.

The Leopards return home to host Long Island on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mike Bourger Field.
