Great Dane Classic Results

The Lafayette track and field team split to compete in two meets on Friday and Saturday. The Leopards ventured to New York for the second week in a row to perform at the Great Dane Classic, but also traveled to Lehigh for the Covert Multis.
Sophomore Margaret Bruno-Metzger was the women's top finisher in the Great Dane Classic by placing fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:03.30. The time ranks second in the Patriot League for finishes this season. Freshman Sarah Welsh-Huggins finished 10th in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:06.76.
As for the men, senior Rob Blum finished sixth in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:32.10.
In the field events, junior Connor McGee placed eighth in the shot put (48-07 ¼) while freshman Michael Thompson finished 12th in the pole vault (14-03 ¼).
Meanwhile, at Lehigh's Covert Multis in the women's pentathlon, sophomore Kerriann Borke placed second with 2885 points and freshman Stephanie Hazlett finished fourth (2713) overall. Borke picked up first place finishes in the pentathlon's 60 meter hurdles (9.55) and the long jump (17-04) while Hazlett finished second in the 60 meter hurdles (9.78).
Senior Jessica Buzzell captured first place in the women long jump (18-04 ½) and second place in the 200 meter dash (26.91). Freshman Joelle Neilson excelled in jumps, placing third in the triple jump (35-03¾) and ninth in the long jump (16-07).
A trio of juniors finished strong in the dashes as Sean Casey placed second in the men 500 meter dash with a time of 1:07.02. Adam Ballester finished third in the 200 meter dash (23.14) and Bradley Williams placed fifth in the 400 meter dash (53.17).
The Leopards head back to Bethlehem this Saturday for the Lafayette/Lehigh Dual Meet at 5:30 p.m.
