NEW YORK – The Leopard track and field teams spent their Friday at the Scarlet Knights Open hosted by Rutgers and the Fast Track Invite at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
At the Scarlet Knights Open in New York, N.Y., freshman Kennedy Miller secured fifth in the shot put with a 43' 2.5" put. Miller's performance earned her No. 6 all-time at Lafayette. The first year also claimed third at the weight throw, tossing 48' 9". Freshman Ava Reese enjoyed second and sixth-place finishes in the shot put (40' 2.25") and weight throw (46' 8.25"), respectively.
Running for the women, sophomore Anya Kazemi finished the 5000 meters in 17:43.87 to collect No. 8 all-time and fifth place. Freshman Hazel Calway reeled in sixth in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:45.88, No. 9 all-time. Junior Ava Severino managed 13th in the 5000 meters, finishing in a time of 18:36.75.
In the field for the men, senior Benjamin Hill vaulted 15' 4.25" in the pole vault for fourth.
Juniors Ivan Tejada and Niko Williams took home eighth (48' 11") and ninth (45' 11.25") in the shot put, respectively.
At the Fast Track Invite, senior Elizabeth Borah crossed the finish line second at 9:58.70 in the 3000 meters, staying at No. 4 all-time. Classmate Elena Malone secured No. 8 all-time in the 800 meters, snagging 10th with a time of 2:16.28. Freshman Kendall Collier earned eighth in the 3000 meters (10:18.12).
Sophomore Iyun Franklin-Ayeni ended 10th in the 60-meter hurdles invitational, crossing the finish line at 9.34. Senior Maeve Waldron collected 10th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.12 and sophomore Lilly Bradfield placed 10th in the 400 meters (59.24).
In the field for the women, junior Bridget O'Mara tied her own No. 4 all-time mark in the pole vault, vaulting 11' 5.75".
Running for the men, senior Justin Brown captured second in the 5000 meters with a final time of 14:58.65. Classmate Cole Chukoskie took home ninth in the 3000 meters (8:35.83). Senior Titan Casey earned a time of 1:54.62 in the 800 meters for ninth place.
Junior pole vault Elliott Godin ended ninth with a 13' 11.25" vault.
The Maroon and White will compete at the Widener Invitational on Feb. 14-15 hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
