WEST POINT, N.Y. - A balanced Lafayette squad used two goals and a solid defensive performance to blank Army 2-0 in men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon. B.J. Glenn and Sam Feldbaum provided the offense while the Leopard defense held the Black Knights off the scoreboard.

Lafayette (8-5-2, 3-2-0) picked up its second consecutive shutout while Feldbaum, who missed the first eight games of the fall, netted his first goal of the season. Senior goalie Philip Nelson was forced to make only one save against the Black Knights (1-12-1, 0-5-0) en route to his eighth shutout of the season and 19th of his career, moving him into a tie for fourth all-time in Lafayette history.

The Leopards not only doubled-up the Black Knights in goals, they also had 19 shots to Army's eight and took nine corner kicks while limiting the Black Knights to five. The Lafayette defense held Army to only one shot on goal.

Glenn got the scoring started in the 22nd minute with a shot that, while it may not have had a lot of power behind it, did manage to trickle past Army goalie Nick Alexander to make it 1-0 Leopards.

Lafayette continued to take shots at goal but it was Army that had the final scoring chances of the first half with two corner kicks in the final five minutes, but none forced Nelson into action and it remained 1-0 at the midway point.

Fifteen minutes into the second half, Feldbaum added his insurance goal on a header that was assisted by a long cross from Nick Leigh, marking the first points of the season for both Feldbaum and Leigh.

The teams combined for only three more shots, two of which came from Lafayette, over the final 25 minutes and the Leopard defenders made sure the 2-0 lead was more than enough to clinch the league win.

Lafayette has a quick turnaround as the Leopards host Columbia on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
