Lafayette Track and Field Takes on Nation's Top Teams

The Lafayette track and field team competed against some of the top programs in the nation this weekend at the New Balance Invitational at the NYC Armory. The Leopards measured up against teams like Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Louisiana State and UCLA.

Matthew DeBlander qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 1000m run with a time of 2:29.37. He finished sixth in his section of the meet.

Adam Ballester ran a personal best in the 200m at 22.59. Rob Blum and Sean Casey both competed in different sections of the 800m. Blum placed third (1:56.67) while Casey finished 10th (2:01.61).

Jessica Buzzell was the only Leopard from the women's side to participate in the meet. She finished ninth in the long jump (17-10.25).

Lafayette heads back to the Armory on Friday for the Lafayette/Rider Invitational beginning at 3:30 p.m.
