EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette shortstop Christina Giambrone (Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy) was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday, picking up Lafayette's first weekly conference honor of the season.

While on Spring Break last week and enjoying time away from her classes - The Romantics, Black Writers, Intro to Political Theory and International Politics - the English major put up impressive numbers at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Giambrone recorded four multiple-hit games, drove in 10 runs and hit for a .375 average in the Leopards' eight contests.

After belting nine homers last season to reign as Lafayette's homerun queen, Giambrone hit four during her time in Florida. She hit homers in back-to-back games against Columbia and Wagner on March 17 for a total of four RBIs.

She did not miss a beat on Thursday against Iona and Wisconsin-Green Bay, going 4-for-8 with five RBIs. She hit homers in consecutive at bats against Wisconsin-Green Bay to lift Lafayette to a 5-1 victory.

Giambrone leads the team in home runs (four), slugging percentage (.711), RBIs (10) and assists (25).

The Leopards return to Easton for their home opener on Saturday when they face their first Patriot League opponent, Army, in a Saturday-Sunday double-header with both days beginning at noon.
