EASTON, Pa. - Senior
Mary Grace O'Neill earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Softball First Team, announced Tuesday afternoon. She becomes the first Leopard to earn a first team selection since 2013.
O'Neill has been a mainstay in the Leopard lineup, starting a total of 80 games. The Pleasantville, N.Y. native had a career year in her final season on College Hill, becoming the first player in nearly three decades to hit over .400 in a single season. Her .423 average ranked second in the Patriot League and third in Lafayette history. After swiping a single-season record of 24 bases and breaking a 40-year old record as a junior, O'Neill stole 11 bases in 2025, moving into sole possession of third for career steals.
O'Neill paced the Maroon and White in a variety of categories offensively, including batting average (.423), hits (52), doubles (11) and on base percentage (.455). Previously, the senior was tabbed as the Patriot League Player of the Week for her performance at FIU's Panther Invitational on Feb.21-23. Over the course of the weekend, O'Neill hit .529, collecting nine hits in four contests.Â
O'Neill is an economics major and currently holds a 3.54 cumulative GPA while being named to the dean's list and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. In addition, she also holds a certificate in Financial Policy and Analysis.
