PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lafayette softball team lost to Drexel on Wednesday afternoon, 3-1. Game two of the scheduled double header was canceled due to inclement weather.

After Robyn Matchett drew a walk in the leadoff spot in the first inning, freshman Gwen Turner sacrificed to advance her to second. Matchett then scored on an error by leftfielder Christina Rodriguez.

The Leopards struggled the rest of the game against sophomore pitcher Ellen Boundy. She struck out a career-high nine batters and held Lafayette scoreless after the first inning.

Game two was canceled in the first inning due to rain.

Lafayette returns to conference play with a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader at Bucknell beginning at 1 p.m. each day.
