LEWISBURG, Pa. - Kyle Clayton and Vicky Melroy once again led the Lafayette men's and women's track and field team in this weekend's Bison Outdoor Classic. The event, hosted at Bucknell, featured teams from 56 schools, including Patriot League foes Colgate and Lehigh along with Pitt, Maryland and Penn State.
Clayton boasted two top-eight finishes in his events: the 110 meter hurdles and the long jump. He finished fifth in the hurdles with a time of 14.99, one one-hundredth of a second off his personal best. His jump of 22'03 ¾" in the long jump was good enough for seventh.
Melroy surpassed the ECAC standard in the hammer throw for the second consecutive week (163'09") to place third.
As for the rest of Lafayette's squad, Seamas McGuire and Michael Thompson both placed fourth in their respective events. McGuire threw 190'05" in the javelin while Thompson posted an outdoor personal best of 14' 3 ¼" in the pole vault.
Allison Tether and Alana Taylor excelled in the javelin, finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.
Up next, the Leopards split between the Greyhound Invitational and the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
