BETHLEHEM, Pa. -
The Lafayette men's and women's track and field team competed against its archrival in the annual Lafayette-Lehigh Dual Meet on Sunday. Two Leopards qualified for the IC4As and the ECACs at the meet.
Vicky Melroy qualified for the ECACs in the hammer with a personal best throw of 165'08", which placed her second in the meet. Melroy did claim the shotput with a throw of 39'02 ½".
After qualifying for the IC4As in the 4x100 meter last week, Kyle Clayton qualified for the championships in the 100 meter with a first place time of 10.81. Clayton also won two of the other three individual events he performed in: the 200 meter dash (22.56) and the long jump (23'1 ¼").
Senior Jessica Buzzell led the Leopards with a stellar outing, winning each of the four events she competed in.
Buzzell won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.09 and followed that up with another first place performance in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.43). Buzzell also claimed two field events - the high jump (5'05") and the long jump (18'05").
Joining Buzzell in the winner's circle were three more field athletes. Allison Tether earned first in the javelin with a throw of 125'06" while fellow thrower Kelsey Slater won the discus (123'03"). Kerriann Borke picked up a win in the triple jump (36'11 ½").
Connor McGee anchored the men in the field events by winning the discus with a throw of 138'05" and the hammer throw (155'04").
The Leopards head to Lewisburg, Pa., on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Bison Open and Multi-Challenge.
