WEST POINT, N.Y. - Adam Ballester joined a quartet of Leopards as a champion in day two of the Patriot League Track and Field Championships on Saturday. Ballester claimed the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.96.
In Friday's competition, Lafayette's Jessica Buzzell and Kyle Clayton claimed the long jump titles and Allison Tether and Seamas McGuire walked away as champions in the javelin.
Several student-athletes boasted strong finishes on Saturday. Clayton finished second in the 100 meter dash, trailing the winner by .03 seconds, while Ballester finished fifth (10.89).
Clayton joined Ballester with a top three finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.02.
The triple jumpers performed exceptionally well. Adam Jones qualified for the IC4A Championships by placing third in the triple jump (48'05 1/2") and Bradley Williams finished sixth (46'09") while Kerriann Borke placed sixth in the women's event (36'08 1/4").
The 4x100 meter relay team of Nick DeRosa, Ballester, Williams and Clayton and the 4x400 meter relay team of DeRosa, Ballester, Sean Casey and Williams both finished second in their events.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Kelly Clyde, Allison Hawkey, Jessica Buzzell and Kyara Gray placed sixth with a time of 3:58.59.
Ryan Stasiowski finished fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase (9:21.95).
As for the women, Buzzell boasted the best finish of day two, placing second in the high jump with a posting of 5'05". She was edged in a jump off for first place by ¾ of an inch.
Gray finished sixth in the 400 meter dash and Hawkey also finished sixth in the 800 meter run (2:15.17).
The men's team finished fourth in the overall standings with 81 points while the women finished seventh with 42 points.
