EASTON, Pa. - Freshman kick returner Jet Kollie (Lowell, Mass./Lowell/New Hampton) has been named the Patriot League Football Special Teams Player of the Week.
Kollie returned five kickoffs for 114 yards in Lafayette's 42-28 loss to Columbia Saturday. He had a long return of 30 yards while averaging 22.8 on the five touches. Kollie, who has been used more frequently in recent weeks, also had a seven-yard run in his lone carry of the game from the slot position.
Earlier in the season during the Harvard game on Oct. 2, he returned a kick-off 94 yards for an apparent touchdown, but had the play wiped away by a block in the back penalty called away from the ball at the inception of the play.
Kollie receives the Special Teams Player of the Week award for the first time in his brief career. He follows teammate Davis Rodriguez's Patriot League Special Teams honor on Sept. 27.
Lafayette next hosts Stony Brook on Saturday at 1 p.m.
