Lafayette and Navy Play to Scoreless Draw

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Playing its second game of the weekend, the Lafayette women's soccer team traveled to face Patriot League opponent Navy on Sunday afternoon and came away with a draw as the teams played to a scoreless tie.

Lafayette (6-7-4, 0-2-4) was outshot by a slim, 18-11 edge in shots while sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Smedley made 11 saves in the 110 minutes.

Senior Olivia Hawes and juniors Janelle Pierson and Meredith McCann accounting for four shots for the Leopards with five other Leopards chipping in a single shot as well.

Navy (9-7-3, 2-2-2) had six shots in the first half while Lafayette was only able to get off one. Both teams took eight shots apiece in the second half and the Maroon and White added another two in the first overtime.

Lafayette will take the week to prepare for historic rival Lehigh as the Leopards welcome the Mountain Hawks to Oaks Stadium on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Prior to the game Lafayette will recognize its eight seniors.
