EASTON, Pa. - The Friends of Lafayette Baseball will be hosting a dinner to kick-off the Leopards' 2011 season on Jan. 22. The event will feature a guest lecture by Greg Gross, a former Major League player and current Philadelphia Phillies' hitting coach.
The event will be held in the Bergethon Room at Marquis Hall with a cocktail reception at 4 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. dinner. The cost is $50 per person, which includes one ticket to the 1 p.m. Lafayette-Lehigh men's basketball game at Kirby Sports Center.
Greg Gross, a native of York, Pa., played 17 major league seasons for the Astros, Cubs and Phillies from 1973-1989. He is the all-time leader with 117 pinch hits as a Phillie and ranks fifth in MLB history with 143 total pinch hits in his career. Gross won a World Series as a player with the Phillies in 1980 and was a coach in the Philadelphia organization when the club won the 2008 World Series.
