KISSIMMEE, Fla. - On the third day of the Rebel Spring Games the Leopards pulled away with a 6-5 win over Rider on Thursday afternoon led by Cody Kugler with two runs. Lafayette fell to Cleveland State 4-0 later in the afternoon.
Rider got the first run of the game off a double in the top of the third. Lafayette soon answered back with five runs in the fourth inning.
Freshman Jordan Parsons came up to bat with two runners on second and third. She bunted and singled to first bringing home Stacey Kushner. Parsons then stole second. Stacey Dorn reached on a fielder's choice to third and Parson came home, Lafayette led 2-1.
Dorn stole second, Carly Ferio reached on a fielding error and advanced to second on a throwing error and Cody Kugler came in for the score. Ferio stole third; with Kasey Karr up she reached on a fielder's choice and brought Ferio home.
The Leopards led 5-1 at the end of the inning. Rider came back with four runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 5-5.
The game winning run came off a Karr single to center field, allowing Kugler to score and win the game 6-5.
Emily Noel received the win for Lafayette pitching 6.2 innings allowing five runs and striking out one.
The Cleveland State game found Gwen Turner and Dorn the only Leopards to get a hit in a 4-0 loss.
Karr pitched six innings in the loss, gave up four runs and struck out one batter.
