EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette did not have a warm welcome home, as the Leopards lost an 8-3 decision to Wagner in their 2010 home opener.

Lafayette (0-11) held Wagner (3-9) scoreless over the final four innings, but unfortunately the Leopards also failed to put a run on the board during those innings to prevent coming back from a five-run deficit.

Kevin Casey and A.J. Miller both had three-hit days to account for two-thirds of Lafayette's nine-hit performance against Wagner. Casey also pitched an inning of scoreless ball in relief.

Starter Jeremy Atkins lasted two innings and gave up four runs on four hits while striking out three batters.

Two passed balls helped the Leopards take an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second but Wagner capitalized on four hits and a Lafayette error put four runs across in the top of the third.

John Gentile relieved Atkins with no outs in the inning after Atkins had surrendered four runs. Gentile got the final three outs without allowing another run to keep it a 4-1 game after two and a half innings.

Lafayette scored its second run of the afternoon in the bottom of the third when A.J. Pisarri drew a one-out walk. He stole second and later scored on Casey's double to right field for a 4-2 ball game.

The Seahawks tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning thanks to a leadoff hit batter and a walk that scored on a single up the middle. Wagner added the inning's third run on a RBI groundout that made it 7-2.

Lafayette fell behind 8-2 in the fifth when Damian Csakai sent home Brian Martutartus on a RBI single up the middle.

The Leopards scraped together a run in the fifth on Casey's RBI single to shortstop for an 8-3 score.

From that point on it was a pitchers' duel and neither team crossed the plate for the rest of the afternoon, making 8-3 the final score.

The Leopards travel to Penn on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon before hosting the Quakers on Sunday for another doubleheader also starting at noon.

Postgame Note:
- Senior Matt Hall extende his hit streak to 17 games. He entered the tied for the 18th-longest streak in nation. His stretch of games dates back to May 6 of last season.
