FARMVILLE, Va. - A second-half scoring drought combined with 16 Longwood goals handed the Lafayette women's lacrosse team a 16-4 loss on Saturday afternoon in its final game of the 2010 season.

Three different Leopards scored in the game, led by freshman Ana Drehwing's two-goal effort. The Lancers (8-8) used eight goals in each half to come away with the win and Karli Brentlinger led that offensive output with seven goals.

Lafayette (3-15) had only 14 shots in the game while Longwood took 32. The Leopards also committed 24 turnovers and were held without a free position attempt all game.

Lauren Brown tied the game at one with her first and only goal of the game 45 seconds into the action but the Lancers rattled off six unanswered goals to take a 7-1 edge with 12:33 on the clock.

Drehwing broke that streak with an unassisted score at the 11:10 mark and with three seconds on the clock, her older sister Maria Drehwing netted the final goal of the half to make it 8-3.

Neither team scored for the first 10 minutes of the second half but over a six-minute span, the Lancers scored five straight goals to take a 10-goal lead (13-3). Ana Drehwing scored her second goal at 12:46 but Longwood ended the game with three more unanswered goals en route to the 16-4 win.

Lafayette goalie Emily Bjork registered 10 saves in her 60 minutes of action.
