EASTON, Pa. - All-Patriot League wide receiver Mark Layton (Sanford, Fla./Lake Mary) was named to The Sports Network Preseason All-America Team, adding to a host of preseason honors that the senior has garnered in 2010. Layton was named to the second-team offense.

Layton caught 65 passes in 2009, the second most in Lafayette single-season history, while totaling 838 receiving yards. He also caught 11 touchdowns as a junior, the second-best effort in Lafayette history. In 2009, Layton had six games during which he racked up 80-plus receiving yards, including three games in which he surpassed the century mark.

The Sports Network, considered the top source for Football Championship Subdivision information, selected Layton as one of its "Top 10 FCS Receivers" in June. Layton was also a tabbed for the Consensus Draft Services Preseason FCS All-America Second Team and earned All-Patriot League First-Team laurels from Phil Steele's College Football Preview.

Lafayette, which is coming off an 8-3 year in which the Leopards finished ranked in the Top 25, open the season Sept. 11 when they host Patriot League foe Georgetown at 6 p.m. at Fisher Stadium.
