Former Leopard Enjoys Continued Success

Aug. 5, 2010

EASTON, Pa. - Former Lafayette student-athlete Chris Luick '09 has continued his baseball success since his days as a Leopard came to an end in 2009.

This summer, Luick played in the Arizona Summer League where he hit .483 and slugged .690. Those numbers caught the eye of the Tijuana Cimmarones of the Golden Baseball League, who recently signed Luick to a contract.

Luick, who was forced to miss much of his senior campaign with Lafayette due to injury, played a fifth year at George Washington University in 2010. The former Leopard first baseman earned the starting job at first base for the Colonials and finished the season with a .367 batting average, third on the team, to go along with 11 home runs, 77 hits, 53 RBI and a team-best 23 doubles.

Despite missing nearly the entire season in 2009 due to injury, Luick stands near the top of several all-time Lafayette records. He is 13th in stolen bases (36), 18th in hits (150), 19th in games played (149) and 25th in total bases (197).

As a sophomore in 2007, Luick was named to the All-Patriot League Team at first base. That year was a historic one for the Leopards, who captured their first-ever league championship with a program-record 33 victories and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.

Luick graduated from Lafayette in 2009 with a degree in Economics and Business and attended George Washington to pursue his Master's degree in Sports Management.
