EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team improved to 4-3 on the season after a 2-0 blanking against NJIT on Friday night at Oaks Stadium. Freshman Catherine Galgano scored her first collegiate goal against the Highlanders.
After a scoreless first half, the Leopards found their spark as Galgano, who came in to play forward, had a fast break away and from 10-yards out found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead over NJIT.
In the 72nd minute sophomore Jill Dozier beat out two Highlander defenders on a break-away to score her fourth goal of the season and seal the 2-0 victory for Lafayette.
Lafayette goalie Lauren Smedley picked up her third shutout of the season after making three saves against NJIT. The Highlanders Sadie Mele picked up seven to bring her season total to 45 saves.
The Leopards are back in action Sunday afternoon as they host Marist at 1 p.m. in Oaks Stadium.
