Senior linebacker Michael Schmidlein (Chester, N.Y./Chester) competed in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl in December. Created in an effort to showcase the talent of FCS players at the conclusion of their collegiate career, the inaugural game was played at Faller Field in Middletown, N.Y.

The Leopards' senior captain was the defensive standout for the game, registering 11 solo tackles with two tackles for loss while also forcing a fumble. The South squad won the game 13-12 following a late drive. Schmiedlein played alongside fellow seniors from Albany, Marist, Indiana State, Bryant, Penn, Wagner, Central Connecticut State, Holy Cross, Cornell, Gannon, Colgate, Lafayette, Robert Morris, UMass, Cortland, Illinois State, Harvard, Monmouth, North Dakota, Fordham, Duquesne, Maine and Dayton.

Schmidlein was the team's top tackler his final two seasons. In 2010, he made 108 tackles to finish second in the Patriot League and earn Second-Team honors for the second straight season.
