Leopards Place Sixth at Patriot League Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Leopards began the third day of the Patriot League Championships with senior Kerriann Borke winning the triple jump on her final and final jump. Her mark of 38' 3/4" was a personal best and also earned her a spot in the ECAC Championships.

Seniors Kelly Clyde added two second-place finishes in the 60m dash (7.89) and the 200m (25.43). Her time in the 200m bettered her previous school record set the day before in the trials.

On the track, the women had two other top-six individual finishers. Adedayo Adu was fourth in the 400m (59.37) while Allison Hawkey was sixth in the 800m (2:18.27).

On the field side, three women helped in points in the pole vault. Elise Buffinton had a season's best jump of 11' 3 3/4" for fifth place while Brooke Kohler and Rebecca Slotkin tied for sixth place with both jumping 10'10".

Both of the women's Sunday relays earned fifth-place finishes. The 4x400m team of Clyde, Adu, Chelsea Marone and Megan Matusky ran a season's best at 3:57.16 while the distance medley relay team of Sarah Welsh-Huggins, Katie White, Hawkey and Lauren Kelly ran 12:34.91. The women's team scored 50 points for a sixth place team finish.

The men were lead by Nick Henderson. The junior's jumped was a personal best of 15'9" to finish second in the pole vault. Both Henderson and Ryan Kochert of Navy cleared the same height with Kochert taking the title on fewer misses. Henderson's jump was a personal best and qualified him for the IC4A Championships.

Jerome Rudolph earned a third-place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 7.02. Two relays earned bronze medals in addition to qualifying for the IC4A Championships. The 4x400m relay team of Nick Hepp, Nick DeRosa, Ryan McVeigh and Bill Leonard ran 3:19.74 for third place while the distance medley relay team of Dayne Mosconi, Neil Franzese, Derrick Hargwood and Ryan McVeigh ran 10:05.81.

Michael Thompson tied for fourth in the pole vault at 15' 3" to round out the Leopard place winners. The men's team scored 29 points to finish sixth overall. Navy also took top honors on the men's side.

The Leopards will close out the indoor season March 6th & 7th at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
