April 19, 2011

EASTON, Pa. - Incoming Lafayette women's basketball recruit Maddie Peabody has been named to the 2011 Kentucky All-Stars. Peabody is among 12 players selected for the team, nine of whom will be joining Division I programs in the fall.

"I'm thrilled that Maddie has earned this prestigious honor," said Lafayette head coach Dianne Nolan. "She will be a great addition to our program; I can't wait to get started in the fall."

Peabody comes to College Hill from Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville. Also an all-state goalkeeper in soccer, Peabody has been a starter on three district championship teams. She earned all-region laurels in her junior campaign and has landed on several all-tournament team throughout her career. In her senior campaign, she averaged 10.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

She is a four-year member of student government, serving as Student Council President as a senior. A four-year academic all-state honoree in both basketball and soccer, Peabody is also active in her community as a volunteer at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen and Episcopal Church Home.

The Kentucky All-Stars will play a two-game series with the Indiana All-Stars, with game one taking place in Louisville, Ky. on June 10 and game two being held in Indianapolis, Ind. on June 11.

Peabody is among five highly-touted recruits that will be joining the Leopards for the 2011-12 campaign. Earlier this month, Brya Freeland appeared with Archbishop Spaulding High School in the National High School Inviational tournament, which was televised live on ESPNU

"The incoming class of 2015 introduces further talent and depth to every aspect of our game," said Nolan. "In addition to their individual accomplishments, all five of them have played for winning programs at the high school level. I look forward to integrating these student-athletes into our solid core of returning players."
