Leopards Host Nine-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette track and field team hosted its first event of the spring season on Saturday afternoon. Nine teams competed in the annual event; Lafayette, Lehigh, Moravian, Bloomsburg, Shippensburg, Ithaca, East Stroudsburg, Kutztown and Georgian Court.

The Lafayette women's team took a third-place finish led by senior Kelly Clyde personal best in the 100m (12.29) for a first-place finish. In the men's 1500m, Dayne Mosconi also had a best with a time of 4:02.93. The men's team finished fifth with Matt Crystal as the top performer in the hammer throw (50.80m).

The Leopards featured many second place performances for the afternoon. For the men, junior Jerome Rudolph finished the 100m with a time of 10.56, which was a personal best, and he anchored the 4x100m relay team (Mike DiPietro, Nick DeRosa and Nick Hepp also ran) that finished at 42.88.

Senior Ryan Stasiowski finished second in the 3000m steeplechase clocking in at 9:51.92. On the women's side, Megan Matusky finishes second with a time of 1:00.19 in the 400m dash.

The women's 4x100 relay team of Adedayo Adu, Matusky, Kathryn White and Kelly Clyde finished at 50.08 for a second place.

On the field for the Leopards, Alexandra Hunsberger finished second in the javelin with a throw of 37.91. In the pole vault, Elise Buffinton had a jump of 11'1.75" while Joelle Neilson placed second in the long jump and triple jump, 18'1.5" and 35'11.25", respectively.

Rachel Pena (Shot Put, 38'8.75"), Allison Hawkey (800m, 2:16.65) and Ryan McVeigh (400m Hurdles, 56.00) were all good for third place finishes for Lafayette.

Other outstanding performances came from Gwen Steckel who had personal best in the discus (134'10") and hammer (152'03) for a fourth and fifth place finish. Adu ran a personal best in the 200m with a personal best of 26.05.

Personal bests also came from DeRosa and Hepp in the 100m dash finishing fifth (10.92) and sixth (10.95) respectively.

Lafayette continues its homestand as the Leopards welcome Lehigh for a dual meet on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
