KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Lafayette closed out the Rebel Spring Games with a pair of losses on Saturday.
In the first game, Columbia scored four runs in the opening two innings and the Leopards could not catch up, losing 4-2. Green Bay shut out the Leopards 5-0 in the night cap.
For Columbia, Christie Taylor doubled home two runs in the bottom of the first and Amy Niedzwecki plated another with a single. The Leopards could have been deeper in the hole, but stranded three Lions' runners. In the second, Columbia added Jennifer Bergeron's RBI-single to lead 4-0.
The Leopards sliced that deficit to 4-2 in the top of the third inning. With the bases loaded, Jordan Parsons grounded out to the pitcher to score Madeline Allen. Stacey Dorn followed with a single to drive in another run. The Leopards managed just three more hits in the final four innings and did not threaten to score.
Kalli Schultea (7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2K) earned the victory while Alex Campanaro was saddled with the loss. Campanaro gave up four runs on six hits in two innings. Emily Noel finished off the game, surrendering just one hit in the final four innings.
In the late game, the Leopards managed just three hits off Green Bay pitching, falling 5-0.
Melissa Robinson surrendered two runs in the third inning, one in the fourth and two more in the sixth (all of them unearned).
Green Bay's Hailey Mohrfield led the way for the Phoenix, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI, and knocked in Ashleigh Racer on a single in the two-run sixth. Mohrfield found her way to the plate that inning as well, after an Alli Rivera single drove her home.
Stringing hits together was difficult for the Leopards as their three hits all came in separate innings. Gwen Turner, Kelly Lallis and Kristen Berger all recorded singles, while Dorn, Lauren Murphy, Campanero and Madeline Allen reached first walks, but could not advance farther.
Green Bay's Ashley Nannemann recorded the win, pitching four innings of one-hit ball with a strikeout and a walk. Closing it out was Allison Goecks, who pitched the final three innings, giving up two hits, with three walks and one strikeout.
Lafayette's Robinson threw all seven innings (7 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 3 K) in the defeat.
Lafayette (2-10) returns to the Lehigh Valley to host Manhattan in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon.
