BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The reigning three-time Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week Jerome Rudolph improved his 100 meter dash time once again, setting a new school record in the event. Rudolph's effort came at the Moravian College Coach P. Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The senior crossed the line in 10.39, 3/100th of a second better than the previous school record set by Rudolph last week. His time was an IC4A qualifier and highlighted multiple first-place efforts for Lafayette student-athletes at the competition.
Classmate Nick DeRosa claimed first place in the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 21.82. Another top finisher was junior Nick Hepp, who completed the 400 meter dash in 48.20 and also qualified for the IC4A Championships.
Ryan MeVeigh finished second in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a time of 54.93. Nick Henderson recorded a second place finish in the pole vault with his leap of 15' 5".
For the women's team, Brittany Powell jumped 37' 5" in the triple jump to take first place. Chelsea Marone and Kelly Senters claimed the top two spots in the 400 meter hurdles, with times of 1:04.36 and 1:04.64, respectively.
Rachel Pena's effort in the shot put slotted her second, after her toss of 38' 4 ¾''. Gwen Steckel threw 139' 1" in the discus and Adedayo Adu clocked in at 57.91 in the 400 meter dash, both second place finishes. Adu also took third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.13 and Pena was third in the hammer throw (158' 2'').
In the pole vault, Lafayette's Elise Buffinton and Claire Murphy placed third and fourth, in that order. Buffinton cleared 11' 7 ¾" while Murphy posted a personal best of 11' 1 ¾".
Lafayette returns to action at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton on April 21 and 22.
