SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Seton Hall used a 26-2 first half run and led 47-15 at halftime before eventually coming away with a 90-58 victory over Lafayette on Friday night at Walsh Gym.

Seton Hall's Eugene Teague finished with a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds before leaving the game with an injury five minutes into the second half. Brandon Mobley also had a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards, while Sterling Gibbs scored 14 and Brian Oliver had 11. The Pirates (9-4) posted a 51-37 rebounding advantage in the win.

For the Leopards (4-7) Dan Trist, Joey Ptasinski and Michael Hoffman each scored nine points in the loss. In addition to Hoffman matching his career-high in points, Monty Boykins's equaled his career-best effort with eight points and Ben Freeland set a new career-high with eight points.

Seton Hall hit the offensive glass early and raced out to a 6-0 lead after three Teague baskets inside, two on putbacks, before pushing the advantage to 13-5 with seven straight points. The stretch started with Oliver's three after Lafayette trimmed the deficit to 6-5 and continued with Edwin's transition layup and a Teague dunk that forced Lafayette to call timeout at 14:15.

After Lindner's deep two briefly interrupted the Pirates' run, Seton Hall scored the next 19 points to complete a 26-2 run and open up a 32-7 lead. Teague scored six of his 14 first-half points for the Pirates as the home team held Lafayette without a basket for 7:13 prior to Trist's old-fashioned three-point play with 5:35 to play in the period.

Seton Hall's lead ballooned to 32 points by halftime as the Pirates led 47-15 going into the locker room. The Leopards were limited to 18.2 percent shooting in the half (6-of-33), while Seton Hall made 19-of-34 attempts (55.9 percent). On the boards, Seton Hall held 30-16 rebounding advantage, led by Teague's eight before intermission.

Lafayette begins Patriot League play on Jan. 2 when Army comes to Kirby Sports Center for a 7 p.m. tip.

Game Notes:

Zach Rufer has picked up a steal in each of Lafayette's last four games.

Bryce Scott set a new career-high with eight rebounds.

Lafayette's 58 points and 32.3 field-goal percentage were both season-lows.

Ben Freeland's two blocked shots were a career-high.

Rob Delaney '12 and Tony Johnson '13 were in attendance at the game.
